VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) is used to organize communication between devices at the channel level. A VLAN can link devices connected to different network switches and located in different network segments. If the devices are connected to the same switch but are in different VLANs, they will not be able to communicate with each other at the channel level.
You can create VLANs based on switch ports to which your servers are connected, if the DCImanager 6 administrator has enabled this option in the platform settings.
To configure a VLAN on a switch interface:
- Go to Servers → click on the server name → Connected devices → select the switch port.
- Select an existing VLAN or create a new one. Enter a name for the new VLAN.
- Add a discretional Note.
- Press Save.
