Continuity of applications
and services

Services and applications deployed in a virtual infrastructure based on VMmanager operate continuously.

The administrator can perform any operations with virtual machines without stopping them – moving VMs between hosts, changing parameters, performing backups.

For live migration and continuous operation
of services, we will need

Balancer

Mechanism for automatic load balancing in the cluster due to VM redistribution

Change settings
without rebooting

Ability to change the number of vCPU, RAM, incoming and outgoing traffic speed, and read and write operations without rebooting the VM

How does this work

The VMmanager platform supports hot reconfiguration of VMs and their transfer between nodes without the need to stop running processes.

01
The Balancer service automatically distributes the load between cluster nodes, migrating VMs without rebooting or stopping them.
02
The mechanism maintains a uniform distribution of resources and prevents overloading of individual nodes.
03
If necessary, the VMmanager administrator can change the parameters of the virtual machine without stopping it.
04
Hot reconfiguration capability ensures optimal performance levels and efficient resource utilization.

Flexible adaptation to load

Changing virtual machine parameters without rebooting allows administrators to dynamically adapt virtual machine resources in response to changing application and service needs.

Minimizing downtime

Since changing the parameters does not require a VM reboot, services and applications continue to run without interruption. This is especially important for business critical applications that require a high level of availability.

Flexibility and adaptability

Administrators can quickly respond to changes in load, increasing or decreasing resources depending on current needs. This allows you to maintain optimal performance of services deployed in the virtual infrastructure.

Improving performance

If the load on the service increases, the administrator can add resources, for example, increase the number of vCPUs or RAM, change the speed of traffic, read and write operations, without the need to plan downtime. This helps avoid performance degradation and ensures stable operation of applications.

Automatic
load
balancing

Automatic load balancing in VMmanager plays a key role in ensuring the continuity of the IT infrastructure and deployed services. How the “Balancer” service works:

Load monitoring

VMmanager constantly monitors the load level of nodes within the cluster. The administrator can independently set the frequency of checks in the service settings.

Data analysis and preparation for migration

Based on the collected data, the service divides nodes into two groups: overloaded and underutilized nodes. After this, the “Balancer” creates a list of VMs that need to be migrated between nodes.

Migration

The service migrates VMs from busy nodes to freer ones using the live migration mechanism. The migration occurs without stopping the VMs, so the machines remain available throughout the migration procedure. This allows you to maintain an optimal load level without downtime or stopping running services and applications.
