How the virtual machine management portal works

Multi-tenant architecture assumes that a single instance of an application serves multiple clients at once. VMmanager allows you to use all the advantages of modern multitenant technologies. This allows us to implement a system where each client has access only to the resources allocated to him (virtual machines, networks, etc.). Users independently manage the available resources within the rented space. At the same time, they are isolated from each other and from the physical equipment used.

VMmanager provides a convenient graphical interface for resource management. With its help, the control panel user can:

  • Administer virtual machines and LXD containers - turn them on and off, reinstall the OS, create backup copies and restore VMs from backups, run scripts, configure IP addresses, etc.;
  • Administer virtual networks - create them, configure their parameters, allocate and account for IP addresses;
  • Administer software - install software through scripts, create your own scripts for installing software and manage them;
  • Analyze summary data on virtual machines and containers – task queue, operation history, load statistics for CPU/RAM/IOPS/Storage and other resources.

Role-based access and integration

VMmanager allows you to configure integration with Active Directory, LDAP and FreeIPA for user synchronization. After synchronization, the user can log in with a domain account to manage their virtual machines.

There are several roles available in VMmanager:

Administrator (admin)

created automatically during installation. The administrator has access to all management options.

Advanced user

created manually by the VMmanager administrator. Advanced features for working with virtual machines and managing IP addresses are available.

User

created manually by the VMmanager administrator. Basic functions for working with virtual machines are available.

Administrator with read-only access

created manually by the VMmanager administrator. All functions are available in read-only mode.и
