User permissions management and AD/LDAP permissions delimitation
In VMmanager, you can create an intermediate Advanced User role. It has advanced features for managing IP addresses and VMs, but not the entire infrastructure.
Buy Free trialYou can improve security and protect your infrastructure from unwanted user activity by delimiting user permissions. For this purpose, ISPsystem platforms have a simple system of roles: Administrator and User.
Administrator. The first Administrator account is created automatically when you activate the platform. Administrator has maximum permissions to edit data, add and delete users, connect equipment, create integrations.
User. Administrator can create an account with the User access level. Usually, User permissions only apply to a specific server. User does not see the entire infrastructure and has no access to neighboring servers. It can only manage its own equipment: install OS, reboot the server, track statistics on it, etc.
In VMmanager, you can create an intermediate Advanced User role. It will have advanced functions for managing IP addresses and VMs, but not the entire infrastructure.
Proper delimitation of permissions will save administrators from unnecessary manual work and protect the infrastructure from unwanted actions of users who are not specialists in infrastructure management.

Many companies with large employee numbers use a single access control center - AD/LDAP. VMmanager can easily integrate into the general access distribution system thanks to ready-to-use API integration. This simplifies the management of employee accounts. All you need to do is to create, delete or change permissions in LDAP/AD - access in ISPsystem platforms will be changed automatically.
