Beta and stable are the stability levels of ISPsystem products. The level determines how often and how much the product will receive updates.
What is the difference between beta and stable
The table below shows the differences between the beta and stable versions of the products.
Beta and stable versions are located in repositories with different names. This means that when you install, you must enter the repository address with the version name: beta or stable.
You can check the current version in /usr/local/mgr5/etc/repo.version.
Which version to install
We recommend that you install the stable version. With it you can be sure that the program works smoothly, it only needs to be updated once a month.
The beta version is suitable for those who want to use new or improved features as soon as they appear.
Changing the version
You can switch from one version to another by changing the name in the repository address. You can change from stable to beta at any time. To switch from beta to stable, you must wait until the updated stable version corresponding to beta is released.
For example, the current version is beta 6.70, stable 6.68. You can change the repository address from beta to stable already now, but you will only start receiving updates when the stable above 6.70 is released. Switching from a newer to an older version is not supported.
Where to find out about changes
You can find out about the current stable and beta versions, as well as changes in each product, in the product itself: Help → Change log in the left-hand menu. Information about the changes is also available in the Changelog:
