The article describes how to activate ISPsystem licenses.
Activation of VMmanager 6, DCImanager 6 licenses
License activation is performed after the platform is installed:
- automatically with a license token;
- manually.
For more information on how to activate a license, see the Licensing article:
- for VMmanager 6;
- for DCImanager 6.
To activate the commercial license after installing the trial license, in the platform, enter Settings → System information → License → click Update the license.
Activation of BILLmanager, DNSmanager, IPmanager licenses
The license is activated automatically if the following conditions are met:
- the server has a public IP address;
- this address is the same as the one you specified during the purchase.
The license cannot be automatically activated if:
- There is no public IP address on the server network interface;
- no IP address was specified for the license when ordering;
- the IP address specified at purchase is not the same as the actual server IP address.
Activation of BILLmanager licenses with key
If automatic activation is not suitable for your platform, activate the license with a key. The activation key is created automatically when you order the license. It can be found in the service activation letter or in your client area under Products/Services → Licenses → select the license → click Edit → License key.
Meet the following conditions on the server with the platform:
- Open port 80.
- Verify that the license server billmgr.license.ispsystem.com is available. You can check availability with the curl utility.
The specified domain is relevant for BILLmanager 6. For BILLmanager 5, check the availability of the license server 86.license5.ispsystem.com.
To activate a license with a key:
- Open the platform.
- In the activation window, select Activate existing license.
- Enter your key in the Activation code field.
The key works only once. Therefore, it must be generated again to reactivate the license. You can do it yourself once a month in your client area or request a key from the seller of the license.
Activation with the fetch command
This method is only suitable for:
- BILLmanager;
- DNSmanager;
- IPmanager;
- fifth-generation (v5) licenses.
To activate a license using the fetch command in the console:
- Connect to the server with the platform via SSH.
-
Run the command:
/usr/local/mgr5/sbin/licctl fetch <mgrname> <License_key>
Comments
If the command ends with an error, open the /usr/local/mgr5/var/licctl.log log for troubleshooting. For more information about logging, see the article Logging in BILLmanager.
Contact the technical support
If you cannot activate your license yourself, please contact the ISPsystem team.
- Log in to your client area and create a support ticket in Support → Support tickets → Add.
- In your ticket, please specify the essence of the problem and provide access to the server. To provide access:
- for BILLmanager and v5 licenses, perform one of these actions:
- in the web interface of your platform, enter Settings → System configuration→ enable the Grant ISPsystem support access option;
-
connect to the server with the platform via SSH and run the command:
/usr/local/mgr5/sbin/licctl enable <mgrname> support access
CommentsFor more information on how to provide access, see the article How to allow Technical support staff to have remote access to your server in the COREmanager documentation.
- for VMmanager 6, DCImanager 6:
- if you have access to the web interface:
- Enter Settings → System information.
- Set the toggle switch for the Technical support access option to Granted.
- if you do not have access to the web interface, provide the root user password;
- If access is restricted by IP addresses, add 82.146.39.3 and 116.203.84.40 to the trusted list;
-
in case of non-standard port for SSH connection, specify it in the text of the ticket.
ВниманиеIf the platform interface is not available or it is not possible to set the toggle switch for the Technical support access option to Granted, you can manage access through a script.
For more information, see the article Access for technical support:
- for VMmanager 6;
- for DCImanager 6.
- if you have access to the web interface:
- for BILLmanager and v5 licenses, perform one of these actions:
ISPsystem specialists will access your server and activate your license.
How does it work?
The control panel activates the ssh-key of our technical support staff on your server enabling to connect to your server using the key.
Why it is secure?
- The key will be put on the server while activating the license, rather than when selecting the checkbox "Allow access for support". This prevents frauds from getting and changing the request
- The key is encrypted and can be activated only when you allow it
- Although a single key is used, each support member has a unique access session
- The server where the private key of the ISPsystem support staff is kept, can be accessed only from certain IP addresses and only by certain staff members that are allowed to access clients' servers.
Security notes
Be sure to clear the check box "Allow access for support" after technical works are completed.
Access will be automatically disabled after seven days.
