Chassis management

A chassis is a device that provides blade servers with access to common components. For example, a blade server may consist of a motherboard, CPU, memory modules and NIC, and use external drives and power supplies installed in the chassis.

To manage the chassis, enter ServersChassis.

To add a chassis to the rack:

  1. Press Add chassis.
  2. Choose a chassis platform. If the desired platform is not listed:
    1. Press Create platform
    1. Specify the Number of slots for installing blade servers.
    2. Choose the Size in units. It can be a multiple of 0.5.
    3. Choose the Height in units.
    4. Specify the number of slots for installing components:
      1. Number of slots for devices.
      2. Number of slots for power supplies.
  3. Specify the chassis parameters:
    1. Enter the Name.
    2. Select the Rack location.
    3. Select the Rack.
    4. Select the Unit number.
    5. If needed, enter the Weight in kilograms.
    6. Add a discretionary Note.
  4. Press Add.

To edit the chassis settings, enter ServersChassis → select the chassis → make the changes and press Save.

In the Chassis section, you can navigate to the blade servers that are installed in the chassis.

The link will open the section In operation with a filter by the selected chassis.

To add a blade server to the chassis:

  1. Enter ServersChassis → select the chassis and press  Add blade server.
  2. Add a new blade server. Read more in Adding a server.

To delete a chassis, enter ServersChassis → select the chassis and press Delete chassis.

Note:
Before deleting the chassis, delete any blade servers that are located in it.
