BILLmanager 5 Documentation

Order and renewal

Order

There are two options:

  • Registration — a new domain is registered.
  • Transfer — an existing domain is transferred to another domain registrar or its partner.

Domain name registration

The registration process consists of the following steps:

Step 1. Domain name selection. Specify a domain you would like to acquire in the field "Domain name" and mark the domain zones.

Click on button Whois lookup to check whether the domain is available for registration in the domain zones you have selected or in other domain zones. Please select an available domain and go to the next steps.

Step 2. Contact information. Specify the information about the register (individual or entity). The majority of domain name registrars require specifying a few contacts to be able to register a new domain name.

Step 3. Name servers. Specify name servers which will be transferred to your registrar to delegate the domain name. This option may be mandatory or optional, depending on the top level domain and the registrar.

Step 4. Service parameters. General information about the service. Here your customer can order add-on services such as WHOIS protection if such services are set up in tariff plan settings.

Transfer of domain name

The transfer process differs depending on the registrar and the domain zone. Normally, your client is to receive a transfer code from the current registrar and start the transfer manually in BILLmanager. The system will initiate the transfer procedure automatically after that.

The transfer process in BILLmanager consists of the following steps:

Step 1. Domain name selection. Specify the domain you would like to acquire in the field "Domain name".

Step 2. Contact information. Fill out the contact information of the domain owner. The contact data may be different from the current information specified for the domain to be transferred. If so, the contact information will be changed after transfer.

Step 3. Additional parameters. Specify the transfer code.

Step 4. Name servers. Specify name servers which will be transferred to your registrar to delegate the domain name.

Step 5. Service parameters. General information about the service. Here your customer can order add-on services such as WHOIS protection if such services are set up in tariff plan settings.

Note:
Sometimes, the automatic transfer is impossible since the procedure requires a few manual actions to be performed by the client or the registrar. In such cases, the domain will be processed manually, the current transfer operation will fail, and additional actions will be required to finish it.

Renewal

The domain can be renewed not earlier than in 30 days before it expires and not later than in 30 days after it has expired. A client is not allowed to have more than one request for domain name renewal in the shopping cart and among all orders to be paid.

Ifthe automatic renewal is activated, BILLmanager will renew the domain automatically in 30 days before it expires. If renewal has failed, it will try to renew it every next day. The latest renewal effort will be performed on the day before domain suspension.

The following domains will be renewed automatically:

  • if the domain is not being deleted.
  • if the service has the status "Active" while the domain is not being renewed or transferred yet.
  • if parameter opendate (date of service activation) is active. BILLmanager will not renew the domain if it has never been processed.

The suspended domains will not be renewed automatically.
